4 x 4 x not-very-far

Christmas was a while ago now, but my present to my brother was a 4×4 taster course at the driving centre near our house. The centre is based on the site of the old WWII airfield, used to train pilots in Bomber Command. Indeed, our house is part of the estate which comprised the officers’ accommodation. Anyway, as well as doing supercar days on the tarmac bits of the airfield, they also have a gravel rally stage and a 4×4 course. Since it’s about half a mile as the crow flies, it was nice and easy to get to.

We had some hiccups with timing and the fact that they no longer allow passengers in the vehicles, but once my bro was in the driving seat of the Land Rover he seemed to enjoy it!

I wasn’t inclined to stay in the rain and take photos of the supercars being driven slowly around the track by timid middle-aged men, but it would be good to head back at some point and shoot the track drivers doing the ‘experience a fast lap’ sessions. And I’ve now got my eye firmly on the Rally Half Day. :)
