There’s never a bad day for navigation practice, particularly if it’s cloudy on Kinder Scout and you’re not the one doing the navigation.
Tom wanted a refresher on map and compass work, but disappointingly took us from Edale past Ringing Roger and west to Jacob’s Ladder without any major incidents. This despite cloud cover from the top of Grindsbrook Clough, and me being a bit of a git with making him triple-check everything and occasionally trying to make him go the wrong way. The only sign of winter was a thin veneer of ice atop lots of saturated peat, but that was sufficient justification for a hot chocolate on returning to Edale.
