Great Hucklow Fell Race 2015

The route of Great Hucklow Fell Race looks relatively benign on the map, but it’s been disproportionately difficult both previous years I’ve done it. I think it’s because the downhills can all be attacked at full speed, and almost all of the uphills are shallow enough to run, so you never really get any kind of rest. For some reason I keep going back for more though.

This year didn’t feel quite as painful, and although I was pretty spent by the final descent towards the finish, it worked out well in the end. I was pleased to be four minutes faster than last year, coming in 22nd out of 142 finishers. Stuart and Rob both ran well, and it was gratifying to note that I wasn’t the only one struggling! Looks like I’ll be heading back next year then…
