Last weekend was my first foray to Scotland with MPS. We stayed at an old railway station in Lochearnhead, that’s now owned and run by Hertfordshire Scouts. It proved a great base for some lovely walking.
Day one saw us tackling Creag Mhor and Beinn Heasgarnich at a leisurely pace. A little bit of rain first thing wasn’t enough to cause any major problems, and a thoroughly nice day was had by all (well, nearly all!). Perhaps the pace helped, but I wasn’t feeling particuarly knackered at the end of the day, which was nice. It hit me when we got to the nice warm pub though…
On Sunday we stayed a bit closer to Loch Earn and went over Ben Vorlich and Stuc a Chroin, which again proved a nice day with even a hint of steepness thrown in for good measure. Possibly more importantly, MPS turned out to be full of thoroughly nice people, and I tripled my Munro count – that’s right, I’m at the heady heights of six now! Anyway, the next trip’s to the Lakes in a couple of weeks; roll on!
