The Photoshop World conference is currently taking place in Florida, and Adobe have given a sneak preview of Photoshop CS4. Rod Harlan has a video on his Digital Video Confidential blog here [edit: link now defunct], with demos of improved algorithms in current tools (dodging and selections).
In other Photoshop news, MacRumors are reporting that Photoshop CS4 will be 64-bit on Windows, but only 32-bit on Macs. This is because the existing code base is written using Carbon, which isn’t supported at 64-bit by Apple as it’s been replaced by Cocoa (which is newer and does do 64-bit). This means re-writing up to a million lines of Carbon CS3 code in Cocoa, and Adobe say they just can’t do that in time for the CS4 release.
